Port of Thessaloniki: 3.60 mln tn handled in Q1 2017 (+4.9% yoy)

Freight handlings at the Port Authority’s terminals totalled 1.77 mln tn in Q1 2017 (+19.2% year-on-year), while private facilities made 1.79 mln tn (-5.9% yoy).

This year’s first quarter turnover of the terminals operated by the Thessaloniki Port Authority include 1,103.6 thou. tn (+31.8% yoy) of wheeled cargo (excl. ferries) and break-bulk, 737.4 thou. tn (+5.1% yoy) of containerised goods, as well as 24.3 thou. tn (+29.2% yoy) brought on-board ferries.

On the other hand, terminals operated by private companies noted decreases in the reported period – the one handling liquids contracted by 5.9% yoy to 1,790.95 thou. tn, while the cement one by 11.75%, down to 36.7 thou. tn.

Thessaloniki’s Q1 2017 container traffic amounted to 94,415 TEU (+8.5% yoy).
