Measured in tonnes, St. Pete's container traffic rose last year by 4.9% year-on-year to 20.81 mln tn.
However, the port's total cargo throughput in 2016 declined by 5.6% yoy to 48.62 mln tn. Out of the total number, fertilizers and oil products went down by 13.5% yoy and 31.9% yoy to 6.75 mln tn and 6.52 mln tn, respectively. On the other hand, turnover of metals increased by 9.5% yoy to 6.75 mln tn.
