Port of Hirtshals: 148k ro-ro cargo units handled in 2018 (+4.2% yoy)

Overall, the Danish seaport handled 1.9mt last year, more or less the same volume as in 2017.

The handlings of stone and gravel came to a halt in 2018, but the increase noted in ro-ro traffic managed to fill in the missing turnover.

Hirtshals' ro-ro and ferry cargo traffic grew for the 10^th consecutive year.

"It is of course always negative to lose business, but we respond to that we this year have realized a noticeable growth in our core business - lorry traffic. The Port of Hirtshals is characterized by a location that gives a logical reason for developing multimodal and ro-ro solutions from the port, and this is the development that is becoming reality in 2018 and the previous up to 10 years," Anker Laden-Andersen, Chairman, the Port of Hirtshals' Board, commented.

He continued by saying, "The result we have seen in 2018 means that our growth ambitions for the coming years have certainly not been less than earlier, when we look at the development of the activities and the level of activity realized at Hirtshals port in 2018. Our strategic focus is supported by the port's location, which interacts with the natural potentials that we can utilize."
