The cabin and controls will launch on the company’s Big Truck range and will be initially available on the new 8 to 18 tonne capacity Hyster H8-18XD lift trucks.
It provides a 'cockpit-style' workplace, positioning all relevant information and controls well within the driver's reach. The interior finish features a seven-inch touch screen display, complemented with rotary button controls on the armrest. The latter is adjustable and fitted with a writ cushion and Touchpoint mini levers or ergonomic joystick with a forward/reverse switch. Low in-cab noise levels help keep concentration during long shifts.
Curved front and rear windows, armored glass top window and toughened glass doors with a slimline steel frame contribute to increased visibility. All glass is scratch-resistant. To ensure visibility of the fork tips, a lateral sliding seat enables the operator to change the line of sight, while the dashboard does not limit visibility in the front of the cabin. Doors themselves are big enough to allow for moving in and out of the cab even while wearing a hardhat.
According to Chris van de Werdt, Product Strategy Manager, Hyster Europe, the cabin is also equipped with a de-misting function for hasty starts during cold or wet weather conditions. Heating and ventilation can be adjusted depending on the climate and direct airflow onto the operator helps in cooling the cab quickly.
Automatic Truck Shutdown functions are available to save energy when operations are paused. Lights can also be included in the shut off in order to prevent battery-drain. Other customisation options include the monotrol pedal, optional trainer seat, automatic park brake, blue LED Pedestrian Awareness Light, load weight and height indication, tyre pressure monitoring system and telematics.
