Gdańsk to upgrade its quays and fairway

The Port of Gdańsk Authority signed an agreement worth EUR 9.4 mln with the construction company Doraco.

The contract covers the modernization of the fairway, and extension of the quays in the Obrońcy Poczty Polskiej Quay area (to 391 m from the existing 345 m, and the quay's depth will be changed to 11.2 m, too), while Mew Quay will be able to accommodate smaller vessels up to 5.4 m of draft, all at the total length of 5.0 km. Works shall be completed by 2002's end.  

The contract is a part of a bigger  EUR 140 mln investment, encompassing among many modernization of rail and road network, as well as port's fairways and quays.
