The Norwegian ferry company has acquired the 1998-built Finncarrier and will deploy the vessel to sail six times per week between the ports of Oslo and Kiel as of January 2019.

The scrubber-equipped 1A Super ice class ro-ro ship is 175.4 m-long and 22.7 m-wide, offering 1,775 lane metres of cargo capacity (incl. space and plugs for 40 reefers).

According to Color Line, if fully utilised, some 36k ro-ro cargo units can be shipped yearly between the Norwegian and German seaports with the use of Finnclipper.

"The establishment of a separate ro-ro offer represents a new business area for Color Line, and is in line with our company's growth ambitions. With our new ro-ro ship Color Line will contribute to a transfer of large quantities of goods from road to sea, and the new ro-ro ship will be an attractive alternative to the import and export businesses," Trond Kleivdal, CEO, Color Line, commented.
