A year after launching the Gothenburg Gateway, meant to accelerate the development of Sweden’s goods transports, the company is rising efficiency by introducing the Green Gothenburg Gateway concept.
The conversion, put into motion under clear signals from the Swedish business sector to reduce the climate impact, will be achieved at no cost to customers and is promised to not affect speed or reliability of cargo handling at the terminal.
Work has already commenced to make the terminals' container handling fossil free, and transport of all customer goods through the terminal will already be fossil free by next year. APM Terminals Gothenburg will also be able to offer their customers fully climate-neutral cargo handling through the terminal.
Sweden's own ambitious climate targets need to be taken into account as well. The Swedish Parliament has decided that by 2030, greenhouse gas emissions from the country's domestic transports will be 70% lower than 2010 levels. APM Terminals seems to be keeping good pace. CO2 emissions at the terminal have already been cut by 90%. In 2020, Green Gothenburg Gateway should exceed the local Parliament's targets by a "good measure".
