The increase was driven by growing general cargo traffic, which rose by 19.5% year-on-year to a total of 1.49mt.
In detail, the turnover of containerised freight advanced by 16.5% yoy to 1.13mt, ro-ro by 27.3% yoy to 209.3kt, and break-bulk by 32.9% yoy to 155.9kt.
Container traffic amounted to 110,785 TEUs, more by 17.9% on the corresponding result from 2018.
Also more passengers went through the APDL's quays, up by 34.8% yoy to 4,663 guests.
On the other hand, both liquid and dry bulk contracted during the reporting period - by 8.4% yoy and 4.2% yoy, respectively, down to 1.26mt and 415.9kt.
The APDL authority manages the Portuguese ports of Douro, Leixões, and Viana do Castelo.
