The Black Sea Port of Varna is one of Bulgaria's two main ports and with over 130 thou. TEU it is the country's leader in container traffic. Varna is also in a TEN-T comprehensive port as well as a part of the TRACECA international Europe-Caucasus-Asia transport corridor.
The port is divided into two parts: inner Varna East (incl. a dry port and a passenger terminal) and outer Varna West, where containers and ro-ro, grain, coal and clinker, cement, soda and liquid chemicals as well as pax ships are handled.
According to the port authority, Varna is the only port in the Black Sea region which has successfully implemented the so-called Integrated Management System up to international standards, covering business quality, environment as well as health and safety at work issues.
