Finland
Port of Turku is Finland's leading harbour in Scandinavian traffic and the second largest passenger harbour measured by total passenger volume. It is also a rapidly developing distribution centre serving cargo transports to/from Scandinavia, Northern Europe as well as the Baltic countries and Russia.
Situated on the north side of the passenger port, the Linnanaukko area efficiently serves both lo-lo vessels and bulk carriers. The West Harbour is the centre for container transports in the Port of Turku and also handles part of the ro-ro traffic. The warehousing facilities enable cargo unitizing and storage, including unit loads subject to an IMDG code. The two container terminals and four lightweight halls allow for handling of cargo, whatever the weather.
Turku is well located in the south-western part of the country in the junction of the key traffic corridors of the Baltic Sea. The key routes of cargo transports go to Sweden and Germany with five daily departures to Sweden and several weekly departures to Germany. The E18 road passing via Turku makes a convenient fixed connection between Scandinavia and St. Petersburg.
