The contract signed with Havyard Ship Technology provides for the delivery of hybrid electric systems for newbuilds ordered by Fjord1.
The ferries, designed by Multi Maritime, will have an electrical propulsion using chargeable Lithium ion batteries.
Norwegian Electric Systems will also be responsible for installation of the DC (direct current) system, and ensuring safe charging and discharging of the batteries, as well as for providing the Odin's Eye® solution, allowing for future upgrades of the vessels, such as larger battery capacity and/or higher charging power from the shore.
In addition, the company will deliver QUEST® (energy storage battery system), DC switchboards, generators, transformers, Swithcboards230 VAC, Quadro Drive® Low loss DC/AC and AC/DC, as well as project management, calculations & engineering, and finally commissioning and sea trials.
The first vessel will be handed over to the owner in May 2018, while the remaining two at that year's end.
