Kombiverkehr has launched a new weekly rail service between the Port of Rostock and the Austrian Wels for carriages of trailers, swap bodies, and containers.
Trains (traction provided by DB Cargo) leave Rostock on Mondays, while in the opposite direction on Fridays. The 930 km long route is covered in approx. 24 hours.
Provided sufficient demand, Kombiverkehr will double the service's number of weekly departures.
"The train between Rostock and Wels is a model example of the network strategy pursued by Kombiverkehr. There are many different connection options from Rostock and Wels by both rail and water, which will enable forwarders to deliver intermodal transport on far-ranging transport corridors," Peter Dannewitz, Sales Manager at Kombiverkehr, said.
