The first direct freight train connection between China and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania arrived at Mukran Port on 12th November. The train going east started its journey with 48 Containers.

The 640m long freight train going west started its 10,000 km long trip from Xi'an in China via Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus to Baltijsk in Kaliningrad loaded with 41 Containers, where they were loaded onto a short sea carrier.

Harm Sievers, Managing Director, Mukran Port, said, "With this first train from Xi´an, Mukran Port will be perceived more strongly as an ideal European logistics base. I am firmly convinced that many more trains from the Middle Kingdom will follow – thanks, too, to our business partners in Kaliningrad."
