Fincantieri’s shipyard in Ancona has delivered the GT 47,800 cruise ship, the fourth in a series of eight, to Viking Ocean Cruises.
The 227 m long and 29 m wide Viking Sun offers 465 cabins for up to 930 passengers. Including the crew, the vessel can take on-board up to 1,400 people.
The London-based SMC Design and the Los Angeles-based Rottet Studios have been responsible for the ship’s interior design, kept in the Scandinavia style.
The ship has been equipped with an exhaust gas cleaning system to meet the environmental regulations on sulphur emissions.
The four remaining sister ships of Viking Sun, Viking Star, Viking Sea, and Viking Sky will be delivered one at a time in 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022, respectively.
