The small uptick in total freight turnover was driven by increased handlings of ro-ro traffic (+11.1% year-on-year to 1.32mt) and dry bulk (+8.3% yoy to 850.9kt).
On the other hand, less liquids were taken care of over 2018's first quarter (-6.2% yoy down to 2.22mt), as well as of containerised freight (-3.2% yoy to 449.2kt) and break-bulk (-7.2% yoy to 182kt).
Container traffic also noted a drop - by 5.2% yoy to 51,666 TEUs.
Passenger traffic rose slightly - by 0.2% yoy to over 1.92m travellers. The ferry services to/from Helsinki, Stockholm, and St. Petersburg totalled 1.69m (-0.3% yoy), 216.5k (+2.7% yoy), and 2.4k (-66.7% yoy) passengers, respectively. Other services, including tourists brought on-board cruise ships, added the remaining 19k (-10.7% yoy).
