The growth was driven by larger volumes of general cargo (excl. wood) and liquids, which rose by 9.9% and 5.3% year-on-year to over 2.36 mln tn and 7.32 mln tn, respectively.
On the other hand, the turnover of dry bulk went down by as much as 35.2% yoy to nearly 1.15 mln tn in the reported period. Turnover of wood decreased as well, by 15.7% yoy to 321.9 thou. tn.
Rijeka's container traffic rose in 2016 by 7.1% yoy to 214,348 TEU.
Slightly less (-0.8% yoy) passengers (152,097) went through the port's quays.
