The brand-new cruise ship of Carnival Group’s daughter company Princess Cruises has been launched at the Italian Monfalcone shipyard.
With gross tonnage of 145,000, the Bermuda-flagged Majestic Princess is said to be largest ship ever built in Italy, able to take on-board 4,250 passengers in 1,780 cabins, along with a crew of 1,350.
Majestic Princess is also the first ship specifically designed and built by Fincantieri for China's market. As such, Chinese ideograms are painted on the ship’s bow, reading "Shèng Shì Gng Zh Haò," which means "Grand Spirit," as well as the ship features a number of venues adjusted to the taste of Far East clients.
Princess Cruises' newest ship will be home-ported in Shanghai, embarking on cruises to Japan and Korea.
The cruise ship is the third of the so-called Royal Princess-class constructed at the Italian shipyard, which in 2013-2014 delivered Majestic Princess' sister ships, Royal Princess and Regal Princess.
